Meher Baba in 1954
20" X 24"
Mounted on foam board
$350.00

This picture was knitted sideways, and is just st.st. with 5 yarns + thin yarn for shading.

Just before I finished knitting 'Invested, the walk back', Baba let me do a portrait of His for the exhibition at Meher Center. I had a portrait of Him that I wanted to knit for a long time, but that was not what He had in mind. Instead he wanted this picture with these specific yarns. This is  yarn (casual cot'n) that I normally use for tree bark, so I did not know what the result will be. After it was done I realized all the yarns had white in them, apart for the one used for His eyes. A little connection there to the next exhibit I am working on, which will be on the subject of snow. One way to create snow effect is by mixing white yarn with the other yarn (like the green for tree leaves for example).
Another thing - when I finished knitting, I was surprised  to learn it was the same size as the 'Invested' series. Not planned by me, and it would take planning as this picture was knitted sideways and the 'Invested' was knitted from down-up.
