Avatar Meher Baba, 1927
(Meher Baba sitting)
27"X14"
Wall hanging, with 2 wooden dowels.
$1,400.00
This picture is made with:
yarn from India (the figure and the cloth),
ribbon yarn from the U.S. (the garland),
and yarn from Japan (the background).
This is my first attempt at knitting a full body.
It is knitted upward in St.st, with crochet border.
When I showed this picture to Meheru in Meherazad she took me to the back and called the servants to see it, saying that they never see things like that. The servants took Darshan from Baba's feet in the picture, and I - was freaking out.
When I came back (to the U.S.), I had an exhibition scheduled in the public library. So the pictures (this one and Baba in France) went straight from Meherabad to the library wall and it felt to me like the servants put something into it, just for the exhibit.
My lesson was: do your work and
MOVE OUT OF THE WAY
and of course, always - have faith that the picture will work, even if it does not seem like it.
