SLIPPERS:
1. Measure the length of the foot (let's say it is 10").
2. Cast on enough sts. for 1" less than that (in this example - cast on enough sts. to knit 9").
3. Knit until your piece is about 7" long.
4. Weave yarn along one of the sides and pull - that will be the tow area. From there sew the first and the last row together until half way throu.
5. fold along the other length in half, and sew that together - that will be the heel.
Maybe this sounds complicates, but just using some common sense and 'doing it', is easy.
These are some ideas for one piece vests that can be done with knit St. (or in St. st ). Take measurements from a vest/T-shirt you have and like. You will need width, length, length to armhole and how wide/low you want the neck line.
The top example is knitted from side to side. You will need to cast on enough sts to go from the waist up to the shoulder and down the back.
Determine how wide you want the vest to be. After knitting half that width, do the neck opening by binding off enough sts for the neck opening X2 (front + back). Next row cast'em sts back on nd knit the other half (knit the same amount of rows you knitted before the neck opening) then bind everything off.
Fold in half to make a square piece and sew the sides (from waist to armhole).
This design is the same as the 2 scarves vest.
The second pattern is knitted from down up:
Cast on enough sts for width you want
Knit from waist to shoulder line Top of vest)
Knit shoulder, bind off for neck and knit same amount of sts as first shoulder (figure out how many sts to bind off by placing your knit on the T-shirt and simply counting the sts to take off. Minus that from the amount of sts you have. Divide what's left in 2 , knit that, bind off neck sts and knit 'that' again).
Next row, knit shoulder, cast on same amount of sts as the bind off and knit to the end of the row.
Knit same length as before neck opening, bind all sts off and sew.
Cast on enough sts from waist to shoulder (the vest is knitted sideways)
Knit to the other shoulder (the width of the vest)
Bind off at the of the row enough sts for armhole.
Next row - cast on the same amount of sts at the end of the row (by that going back to the same square/rectangle as you had before)
Knit same length as before, bind off
Fold in half along the opening, turn sideways so the opening you knitted is one armhole. sew shoulders and the side from waist to arm.
