My name is Mayan, I am an art teacher from Israel, but lived in the U.S. since 1995. Knitting is perfect for me as it combines two passions I have - for color and for fabric.
My 'knitting affair' started with a TV show of Kaffe Fassett. He showed how to knit with color, and said it was very easy. I decided to take his word for it and started knitting.
From following his designs, I moved to knitting my own patterns. It was very exiting and I just couldn't stop.
The picture knitting started with wanting to knit a portrait of Avatar Meher Baba. It was simple - I copied His photo on grid paper, picked up my yarns, and knitted my first picture. I can not describe to you how fascinating it was. All I can do is encourage you to try it yourself. Knit something that is close to your heart, something that means a lot to you.
