When I finished this picture, Baba looked so fierce it was hard to take. Usually, once a picture is done, I do not make corrections, but rather leave it as is, trusting that this is how Baba wanted it.
This time I went ahead and softened Baba's eyes. The minute I was done I realised my mistake. The fierceness was an integral part that created perfect balance with Mehera's love and softness.
Not wanting to ruin it further, I left it as is and file it under 'live, learn and never do this again (it's too painful).
Another thing about this picture is that if you hold it in a window (the work on the back is clean enough to permit it), the light shines through Baba's and Mehera's forheads. (The same thing happens in Avatar Meher Baba in France ).
Mehera Meher II
(Baba & Mehera during the New-Life)
Mounted on foam-board, 17.5"X13.5" , 2006
Knit in st.st.
As-is $ 150.00
This is not a good picture, but I like how Baba and Mehera seem like a regular Indian couple.
