Above: Meherazad flowers.
Based on a photo of a tangle of flowers and climbers, blooming happily and contentedly in a ditch on the path to Seclusion hill (Meherazad, India).
Size: 18" x 23"
Knitted in St.st from down up with Indian yarn,
mounted on foam board.
These bushes always amaze me. They seem to always be blooming, no matter what time of the year it is. They are so humble, growing there, in the ditch, sometimes dusty, but in such a special place.
The knitting was intense. I started after we came back from Meherabad, and if you've ever been there you know how heart breaking it is to come back. The photo I worked from had so much happening in it that it was difficult to decide what to keep, and what to omit.
Now that it's done the feeling I get from it is of naivety and simplicity. I did not intend for it, but it seems so appropriate, and something I would very much like to have in my relations with God and people.
Surprisingly I get the same feeling from the pictures below. Both pictures were done after coming back.
Below: The Birds shawl.
Size: approx. 18" x 49"
I woke up with this image in my mind on February 12th 2012 (Dhuni day). The image was detailed and ready to knit, including how to do the border.
